Review: Artist Residence Hotel Brighton

Artist-Residence-Hotel-Brighton-Room-View

It was just last week when I visited one of the most flamboyant & charismatic hotels in Brighton – The Artist Residence Hotel Brighton. First discovering this little treasure during a press event for Soak & Sleep at their Pimlico site I really wanted to review this hotel but from an interior/tourist perspective. Continue reading

A Healthy Mind

YOU WILL NEED:

  • A handful of fresh strawberries.
  • One medium banana (diced).
  • A handful of blueberries.
  • A generous slice of avocado (diced).
  • Alpro Almond Milk (I use almond or milk as I’m allergic to milk).

  1. Add all the fruits together in the nutribullet container.
  2. Add the milk to the ‘max’ level on the container (if you don’t have the nutribullet just add the milk 3/4 of the way up but not completely covering the fruit).
  3. Blend & enjoy!
  4. Add honey and blend to add additional sweetness.

Recently I managed to get swept into the whole healthy eating-smoothie bandwagon that seems to be doing the rounds. Actually I say that in jest as I’m totally loving the boost it gives me (as well as the joy of making my own smoothies). Whilst out over the weekend I was after a much needed cool-down-pick-me-up and headed to one of my favourite coffee/smoothie cafes to recharge. I won’t name & shame but as I watched the staff concoct my “smoothie” I was mortified as this overfilled gloop (which he levelled off with his finger might I add – that’s a deal breaker for me) ended up being my purchase. Having left the cafe I vowed never to go back and repeatedly told myself – “I can make this at home, I make this every morning”! Arriving home, two trains later and exhausted, I decided I would share some of my morning smoothie recipes (and this story) with my readers so that you too can make your own everyday.

We currently have the formidable Nutribullet – the smoothie blender that seems to have swept the UK and has been sold out for months! It’s incredibly easy to use & create on-the-fly as you use the cup as the container and once you add all your ingredients you’re just two blasts away from your perfect morning smoothie. It’s important to know what goes into my smoothies so I use blueberries, packed with omega-3, Omega-6, vitamins C and K. I also add avocado which is brimming with protein and monounsaturated fat, essential for healthy brain development along with Alpro almond milk – being milk intolerant. Try out the recipe above that I’ve created and regularly use. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

The Broom Room: Lee Broom’s 1st Hotel Project

It’s been a long couple of weeks…. I’ve finally submitted my research report which was all about luxury hotel design, asking “What’s the sense in luxury?!” And after 9,000 words, various visits to hotels across London and interviewing designers, stylists and creatives I’ve successfully past the penultimate module of my MA and currently working on my final hotel design project – Hooray!

So you all know that I’m extremely passionate about design, particularly hotel design and I’m so pleased to announce that Lee Broom the creative mind behind the Crystal bulb has undertaken his first hotel project at The Thief in Oslo. The design is a homage to the best of British design, art and culture. Designed by Lee with a little magical collaboration from Karina Holman {Norwegian interior designer from the ESKE group} this suite really exudes Brit chić. I love the blue hue and the combination of bold gold, texture and classic Broom style. Having interned with Lee in his early years, Lee has this intense sense of style & creativity, which is both unique and fresh. Want to check it out – head to The Thief.

The Theatre of The Southbank

My twinkle toes didn’t even get a chance to rest from their tour of Shoreditch before I clicked by heels and headed on my next exciting adventure. This time I headed to the Citizen M Hotel along the Southbank. Having mentioned this hotel to everyone I meet after having an initial tour of the place I was not only intrigued but excited to be taking yet another intense journey into discovering the luxe of luxury. I chose Citizen M as one of my case studies for my masters project as their passion and ehos is to create affordable luxury for the people, its citizens – the Citizen M’s. Being a citizen means mobile, be it blogger, business traveller or back-packer this hotel aims to provide the essence, the luxe of luxury. So with that in mind I headed down to the cultural Southbank to see whether this intuitive space really had the luxe effect. Take a visual tour of the hotel and its surroundings below and let me know what you think on twitter.
