This is my very first book review on my blog and I’m proud to start off with this gem – The Lighting Bible. With my interior projects at KLC I always tackle the lighting from the outset as it’s one of the most important elements of design. If the lighting is off the textures, finishes and colour scheme cannot be shown off to its full potential. I am very much a junior though when it comes to lighting and although I know the basics I decided to purchase this book after an interview with the author herself. There is nothing this woman doesn’t know about lighting. Having attended an interview with her (who by the way is one of the nicest and knowledgeable women I have ever met in the industry) she educated me in a matter of minutes on the different lighting techniques and possibilities….so I just had to get the book! I was hooked!
The book has five different sections, each covering your needs. So there is; Core Knowledge, Making the Most of What You’ve Got, Principles of Good Lighting, Decorative Lights and In The Home. Each section is in-depth and gives excellent, clear imagery of what can be achieved. It is also written with clarity and is very easy to follow. One thing I do love about this book is the spiral ring bind in which this cute A5 book in bound. This makes it easier to flick through and tab if you’re working on a project! This book is great for someone who is starting out in their career as a designer, someone who works within the industry but isn’t familiar with all the lighting techniques or for those who just want to create their dream lighting scheme for their home.
This book normally retails at £12.99 but I purchased mine on Amazon UK. In my opinion I would highly recommend this as a great purchase and a book which you will refer back to again and again.
